SOL-Perpetua™ Solar Water Heating System Installation Instructions and Operating Manual For Series "A" Pumps
SOL Perpetua™ System Installation
The installation of a SOL Perpetua™ system is in many ways the same as for any pumped system but because of the fewer components involved, the amount of labour to install it will be less than for electrically pumped systems. Another advantage is that you only need skills in plumbing. Skill in electrical work is not required.
The installer should check the plumbing code in his jurisdiction and comply with local ordinances.
Collector panels must have copper waterways. Piping must be copper with soldered connections. Threaded unions can loosen where large temperature variations occur. Near the heat exchanger they can be used because temperature extremes are absent. Piping for systems with Series "A" pumps should be 12.5mm outside diameter (l/2" o.d.) which is sold by suppliers to the refrigeration and airconditioning trade. Piping of 12.5mm (l/2") inside diameter, which is commonly used by the plumbing trade, requires more working fluid and results in a less efficient system because more energy is left in the piping at the end of the day. Use this piping only if you cannot obtain the smaller diameter pipe. Advise us if you cannot obtain l/2" o.d. piping and we will include the required reducers.
Every joint must be made perfectly air-tight. Avoid joints in difficult places where the results might not be 100%.
